Happy New Year!  I hope you had a wonderful holiday!  Our class came back excited and ready to learn!  We were able to share activities and family we saw over the holiday and it is heartwarming to see their excitement as they remember those special times with family.  

Here is our week of learning at a glance:

 

Reading Workshop-This week we will revisit nonfiction texts.   We will use our reading time to research various landforms.  We will create a flip book over the landform of our choice. 

 

Writing Workshop-    We will begin writing our own version of Tacky the Penguin.  We have been reading Tacky stories and we will get to create our own Tacky adventure! 

Science/ Social Studies-     This week in social studies we will focus on landforms.  We will also begin our unit on maps and continents.  

Math-   We will concentrate on counting coins to $1.00.  You can help at home by giving your child a pocket full of various coins and have your child count the amount.  

Important News:   We earned 10 compliments and we will celebrate with Camping Day!  On Thursday, please have your child bring in a small pillow, a sleeping bag or blanket, and a flashlight if they have one.  

Class Brighteners-   We want to wish Brandon  a very  Happy Birthday!  He celebrated his birthday over the holiday!  We hope your day was special!
