HI!

I can't believe this is our last week before Thanksgiving break!  Where is this year going?  I wanted to remind you that our Thanksgiving luncheon is this Thursday and our lunch time is 11:05-11:35.   Hope to see some of you there!

Here is our week of learning at a glance:

Reading Workshop-This week we will continue our unit on nonfiction texts.  We are going to begin our US symbol research since our Veteran's Day writing and craft took a little longer than we thought. I am hoping to get our project completed  ( a powerpoint, google document,  or article) before we leave on Friday.

Writing Workshop-    We will use our writing time to learn how to take notes. We call it 'stop and jot. "  We will also focus on taking notes using our own words. We are still going on taking notes since we are researching.

Science/ Social Studies-     This week in science we will continue to focus on sound and light energy. Please send in your shoeboxes so we can make guitars when we study sound!

Math-   We will continue our unit on geometry. We will focus on 3-D shapes such as sphere, cube, rectangular prism, triangular prism, cone, cylinder, and pyramids.  We will also focus on  vocabulary such faces, edges, and vertices.

Important News:   Thursday, November 17 is our Thanksgiving luncheon. Our lunch time is 11:05-11:35. ( I wrote the wrong time on our November calendar). We are out of school all next week due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Class Brighteners-We earned 3 class compliments this week. Please continue to encourage good behavior and following our classroom expectations.  Even though the holidays are getting closer we still have quite a bit of learning to cover!

Thanks for all your help and support!

HI!

Thank you so much for taking the time to come to our bridge presentations!  I was super proud of our class and the way they presented their information in front of their peers and all the parents!

Tomorrow our class is voting for our second grade Presidential Candidates.  They are either going to vote for Thomas Toadmore or George McGuinnea.  Ask your child about each candidates' platform and see if they will tell you who they are going to vote for and why.  In honor of the election tomorrow, please have your child wear red, white, and blue!
