HI!

Thank you so much for taking the time to come to our bridge presentations!  I was super proud of our class and the way they presented their information in front of their peers and all the parents!

Tomorrow our class is voting for our second grade Presidential Candidates.  They are either going to vote for Thomas Toadmore or George McGuinnea.  Ask your child about each candidates' platform and see if they will tell you who they are going to vote for and why.  In honor of the election tomorrow, please have your child wear red, white, and blue!

Here is our week of learning at a glance:

 

Reading Workshop-This week we will continue our unit on nonfiction texts.  This week we will focus on United States symbols and we will choose one symbol to research this week. 

Writing Workshop-    We will use our writing time to learn how to take notes. We call it 'stop and jot. "  We will also focus on taking notes using our own words. 

Science/ Social Studies-     This week in science we will focus on sound and light energy. Please send in your shoeboxes so we can make guitars when we study sound!

Math-   We will begin our unit on geometry. We will focus on vocabulary such as polygon, quadrilateral, vertices, sides, pentagons, hexagons, rectangles, squares, and octagon. 

Important News:   Thursday, November 17 is our Thanksgiving luncheon. Our lunch time is 11:05-11:35. ( I wrote the wrong time on our November calendar)Tomorrow there is a TAG Information Meeting at 6:00.  If you are interested in testing your child for TAG in the spring, this is a great meeting to attend. 

Class Brighteners- Alex is our Star of the Week!  He shared his poster with us today!  We want to wish Sydney  and Lorena a very Happy Birthday!  We  hope your day was special!
