HI!

I hope you were able to enjoy your weekend despite the gloomy weather.  I am keeping my fingers crossed it clears up .....soon!  With the upcoming holidays and all the excitement surrounding the holidays, we will definitely need to burn off some energy!

This Thursday is our Literacy Night.  It is a great chance to  see your child's work on display and learn about different countries. Each grade level researches a continent and the activities and  displays go along with that grade level's continent.  I look forward to seeing you!  I will be there until around 6:30 and then I will need to head out to pick up my girls from their activities.

Here is our week of learning at a glance:

Reading Workshop-This week we will continue our unit on Africa.  We researched various animals and we are creating a mural to display on Literacy Night.  We will also begin working on our Reader's Theater, Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears.

Writing Workshop-    We will focus on our All About  books.  Each child is picking a topic they are an "expert" on and will write a nonfiction book about their topic.

Science/ Social Studies-     This week in science we will begin our unit on magnets.  We will predict which magnets are the strongest and then put our predictions to the test!  This unit is a lot of fun for the students!

Math-   We will revisit our unit on two digit subtraction. This week we will focus on using subtraction to help us solve word problems.

Important News:   Thursday,  December 8, is our Literacy Night.  I look forward to seeing you!  Our winter party is Friday, December 15, from 1:30-2:30.  Ms. Neumann is creating a sign-up genius for treats and we will definitely need help with activities at each station!

Class Brighteners-We have earned 9 compliments and we just need 1 more for a special reward. Please continue to encourage good behavior and following our classroom expectations.  Even though the holidays are getting closer we still have quite a bit of learning to cover!

We would like to wish Evin Happy Birthday!  We hope your day was special!

Have  a great week!
